Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 2026

1. The Service

Content Redact helps creators protect their original audio and video content. When you upload a file, we generate a cryptographic hash and acoustic or visual fingerprint, stamp ownership metadata into a copy of the file, transcribe its spoken content, and scan public platforms for potential unauthorized reuse. We also help you prepare DMCA takedown notices for content you identify as infringing.

2. Your Account

You sign in with a Google or Apple account and are responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time from the app's settings or by contacting support; deletion permanently removes your account data and fingerprints as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Your Content

You keep all rights to the content you upload. You grant us only the limited license needed to process it: generating fingerprints and transcripts, stamping metadata, and storing a protected copy temporarily (uploaded files are deleted from storage within 48 hours; fingerprints are retained). You promise that you own the content you upload or are authorized to act for the owner.

4. DMCA Notices Are Your Responsibility

Content Redact drafts takedown notices, but you review, sign, and submit them. A DMCA notice is a sworn legal statement. Before submitting one you must have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized and consider whether it qualifies as fair use. Knowingly misrepresenting infringement can expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Matches surfaced by our scans are leads, not legal conclusions, and may include false positives.

5. Acceptable Use

  • Do not upload content you do not own or lack authorization to protect.
  • Do not use the service to harass others or to file takedowns you know are false.
  • Do not attempt to probe, overload, or interfere with the service or other users' data.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is." Fingerprinting, scanning, and metadata stamping are protective measures, not guarantees: we do not promise that every reuse of your content will be detected, that matches are infringing, or that a certificate or fingerprint will be accepted as proof of ownership in any particular proceeding. Nothing in the service is legal advice.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Content Redact is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

8. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
